15 Killed, 3 Injured in Kebbi Bandit Attack: State Government Pledges Support and Security Measures

The Kebbi State Government has extended its condolences to the residents of Waje community in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area following a deadly banditry attack that left 15 farmers dead and 3 others injured.

Deputy Governor Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida led a government delegation to the affected area on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris, offering sympathies and announcing a financial relief package of N24 million to support the families of the victims and the injured.

Describing the donation as a modest gesture, Senator Tafida emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens. He assured the community that concrete steps would be taken to address the rising insecurity and to protect farmers across the state.

Confirming the incident, Chairman of Danko Wasagu Local Government, Alhaji Hussaini Aliyu Bena, stated that the attack was carried out by suspected bandits, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries.

The District Head of Waje, Alhaji Bala Danbaba, expressed appreciation for the state government’s intervention. He highlighted the region’s geographical vulnerability due to its proximity to Niger, Zamfara, and Sokoto states, and appealed for enhanced security measures to prevent further attacks through these border routes.

The state government has reiterated its resolve to work with security agencies to restore peace and ensure farming communities can return to their livelihoods without fear.
