In a decisive security operation, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a 21-year-old female suspected arms trafficker and recovered a total of 481 rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect, identified as Fatima Salisu from Funtua town in Katsina State, was apprehended in the Azuba area of Lafia while allegedly transporting ammunition intended for criminal groups operating in Katsina. Intelligence gathered by the police revealed that she had traveled through Keana and Doma Local Government Areas before being intercepted.
Acting on a credible tip-off, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima J. Mohammed, swiftly ordered the deployment of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit. The unit’s swift response led to the suspect’s arrest and the recovery of 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition and 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.
Fatima Salisu is currently in custody undergoing interrogation, as investigators intensify efforts to dismantle the arms trafficking network and uncover its links to broader security threats, including banditry and terrorism.
This development marks a major breakthrough in the Command’s fight against the illegal arms trade and violent crime in the region.
