Voting is currently ongoing in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship primary election at the party’s secretariat in Ogba, with a number of Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) confirming consensus candidates.
In LGAs where only cleared aspirants are contesting, delegates affirmed the candidates before casting their votes and exiting the venue in line with party guidelines.
Among the notable developments:
Iba LCDA affirmed Isa Jubril as its consensus chairmanship candidate.
Oto-Awori LCDA confirmed Azeez Kareem following a successful screening process.
Lekki LCDA endorsed Rasaq Kasali as its sole aspirant.
Ijede LCDA saw Motumrayo Gbadebo emerge unopposed.
In Surulere LGA and Kosofe LGA, other contenders withdrew in support of Bamidele Sulaimon Yusuf and Moyosere Ogunlewe, respectively, allowing both to run unchallenged.
The atmosphere at the venue remained calm and orderly as party members adhered to the guidelines set by the APC leadership.
Earlier in the day, Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat addressed the aspirants and party faithful, commending their discipline and decorum. He called for a peaceful and transparent process, urging all aspirants to demonstrate sportsmanship regardless of the outcome.
Dr. Hamzat also emphasized APC’s dominance in the state’s political landscape, noting, “The APC remains the only credible political platform in Lagos. The level of transparency we’ve witnessed today is a benchmark for other states across the federation.”
The primaries continue with results expected later today as the party gears up for the upcoming local government elections.
