Under the progressive leadership of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has significantly enhanced access to quality healthcare by sponsoring 1,000 vulnerable residents under the Eko Social Health Alliance (EKOSHA) health insurance scheme.
Since assuming office in 2021, Hon. Olowa’s administration has made health sector improvements a key priority. This commitment has been clearly demonstrated through strategic partnerships and social protection initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of residents. One such initiative is EKOSHA, a social health protection scheme spearheaded by the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA). The programme is designed to provide comprehensive and affordable healthcare coverage to underserved populations across the state.
Through Ibeju-Lekki’s participation in the EKOSHA scheme, enrolled residents now have access to a broad spectrum of essential health services. These include preventive care, outpatient consultations, maternal and child health services, emergency medical treatment, and chronic disease management—all delivered through LASHMA-accredited healthcare providers.
This intervention not only reduces the financial burden of medical expenses on low-income households but also contributes to the broader goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage at the grassroots level. It reflects a forward-thinking governance model that prioritises sustainable development, social protection, and the overall well-being of the people.
