As part of his administration’s ongoing Sub-Urban Renewal Initiative, the Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Monsuru Akinloye Ismail, has completed and Inaugurated the extensive renovation of the old marriage registry building in Eredo. The refurbished facility has now been upgraded to a modern, multi-functional complex that will serve the residents of Eredo and the greater Ẹpẹ division.
The upgraded building features a state-of-the-art design and includes newly installed air-conditioning systems, enhancing comfort and utility. Beyond its primary function as a marriage registration center, the structure has been repurposed as a multipurpose hall capable of hosting executive meetings, seminars, banquets, and civic receptions. This move reflects the Akinloye administration’s vision of maximizing the use of public infrastructure for diverse community needs.
Speaking on the development, Imam Agbaraojo Shamsudeen of the Muslim Congress in Eredo LCDA commended the chairman’s foresight and dedication to infrastructural renewal. According to Imam Shamsudeen, “This newly transformed marriage registry is a testament to Mayor Akinloye Ismail’s determination to leave no stone unturned in improving the quality of life in Eredo LCDA. It will ease the burden of traveling long distances for marriage registration and will serve multiple purposes for the benefit of our people.”
Imam Shamsudeen emphasized the strategic significance of the project, noting that for many residents, especially in rural and sub-urban communities, access to official services often comes with cost and logistical barriers. “Now, with this modern facility located right in the heart of Eredo, residents no longer need to travel far to register their marriages or host official events. This is a landmark achievement in bringing government services closer to the grassroots,” he added.
Mayor Akinloye Ismail’s Sub-Urban Renewal Initiative has in recent years driven numerous development projects across the LCDA, from road rehabilitation and school upgrades to healthcare improvements and public space rejuvenation. The transformation of the marriage registry marks another milestone in this broader campaign, aimed at enhancing the functionality and aesthetic value of public infrastructure.
