As her battle with late-stage breast cancer intensifies, Mrs. Julianna Akamagwuna, a Delta State native, is making a desperate appeal to First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and well-meaning Nigerians for urgent financial assistance to stay alive.
The 45-year-old businesswoman from Ubulu-Unor in Aniocha South Local Government Area has been bedridden for the past four years. Her deteriorating condition has left her dependent on others for basic daily functions, and the cancer has now reportedly spread to her lungs and spinal cord. With mounting medical bills and no resources left, her family is calling for urgent intervention to raise over ₦8 million required for chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and essential medications.
Speaking from her hospital bed at the National Hospital, Abuja, Mrs. Akamagwuna pleaded through tears: “I want to live. If Nigerians can help me treat this breast cancer, I believe I will live again. I know I still have more decades to serve and contribute to society. Please don’t let me die.”
Diagnosed in 2020, Mrs. Akamagwuna underwent extensive treatment including 13 chemotherapy sessions and 10 rounds of radiotherapy. But her condition worsened, leading to hospital admissions and expensive platelet transfusions totaling over ₦1.1 million. Doctors have since ruled out surgery, citing the spread of the disease.
In February 2025, the cancer returned aggressively. Recent tests show it has now reached her spinal cord and lungs, forcing doctors to recommend another round of chemotherapy and radiotherapy estimated at ₦4.5 million, excluding other drugs and hospital costs.
Her husband, Mr. Augustine Akamagwuna, who lost his job in 2023, says the family has sold all they owned—including land and personal property—in a desperate attempt to sustain her treatment. “We have exhausted everything. What we are facing now is beyond our means. We beg Nigerians, especially the First Lady, Senator Ned Nwoko, the Anioma community, and corporate organizations to come to our aid,” he said.

Despite the pain and trauma, Mrs. Akamagwuna continues to hold onto hope. “I believe God still wants me to live,” she said. “And I believe He will touch the hearts of Nigerians to help save me.”
