The Police Special Fraud Unit in Ikoyi, Lagos has announced the assumption of office by CP Rose Chollom Dung as the new Commissioner of Police, marking her as the 32nd officer to lead the Unit. Her appointment follows the promotion of her predecessor, AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat.
This was disclosed in a press statement by DSP Ovie Kenneth Ewhubare, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Unit.
CP Rose Chollom Dung, a native of Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the former Bendel State University Ekpoma, now Ambrose Alli University. She joined the Nigeria Police Force on 18 May 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and began her career at the Abia State Police Command following her training at the Police Academy Annex, Kaduna.
Her extensive service record includes postings across various state commands and formations such as Divisional Police Officer in Agbara Division, Ogun State; Commandant of the Police Training School, Iperu; Assistant Commissioner of Police Administration in Ondo State; and Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration in Bauchi State. Before her latest posting, she was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Welfare at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
A highly trained and versatile officer, CP Dung has completed several strategic courses including the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College Jos, training on the AFIX Tracker Automated Fingerprint and Palm-Print System, and regional courses on money laundering and financial crimes. She is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Women Police.
In her remarks, CP Dung expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for the trust placed in her and pledged to lead the Unit with professionalism and integrity. She called on members of the public and stakeholders to continue supporting the Unit in its efforts to combat economic and financial crimes in accordance with the law.
