The Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) has welcomed the appointment of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Olatunji Disu as the new head of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.
In a statement signed by its President, Mr. Olalekan Olabulo, the association described the deployment as a strategic decision by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at strengthening the nation’s criminal investigation system with experienced leadership.
According to CRAN, AIG Disu brings over three decades of policing experience spanning operational command, intelligence-led policing, and criminal investigation. The association noted that his previous roles,including Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos, Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory that positioned him at the forefront of tackling armed robbery, organized crime, and other security challenges.
CRAN expressed confidence that his experience in high-risk operational environments would translate into improved investigative efficiency at the FCID Annex, particularly in areas such as forensic investigation, case management, and inter-agency collaboration.
The association also commended the Inspector-General of Police for what it described as a timely and strategic deployment, noting that evolving security threats require tested leadership and innovation in criminal investigation.
CRAN further stated that AIG Disu’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and professionalism would strengthen public trust in the FCID and reinforce adherence to the rule of law in investigative processes.
The association called for sustained collaboration among law enforcement agencies, the judiciary, civil society, and citizens to enhance public safety and ensure effective criminal justice delivery across the country.
CRAN pledged its continued partnership with the Nigeria Police Force and reaffirmed its readiness to support initiatives that promote investigative excellence, operational accountability, and intelligence-driven policing in Lagos and beyond.
