The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), drawing accolades from the media community and stakeholders across the country.
In a congratulatory message released on Wednesday, the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) described Adejobi’s elevation as a well deserved recognition of his professionalism, dedication, and transformative leadership in police–media relations.
CRAN President, Mr. Olalekan Olabulo, noted that since assuming office as the image-maker of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Adejobi has distinguished himself through transparency, openness, and timely dissemination of credible information.
“His commitment to public communication and support for journalists has improved the relationship between the media and the police, especially in crime reportage,” the association stated.
The group also commended the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission for acknowledging Adejobi’s service with a merit-based promotion.
According to CRAN, Adejobi’s accessibility and consistent media engagement have not only enhanced the image of the Force but also helped counter misinformation and promote public trust in law enforcement.
While pledging its continued collaboration with the police under Adejobi’s watch, CRAN expressed confidence that he would continue to serve the country with distinction and integrity.
DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a career police officer and former spokesperson of the Lagos and Ogun State Commands, has become one of the most visible and engaging police PROs in Nigeria’s recent history. His promotion comes amid ongoing efforts to reform police operations and deepen community engagement through effective communication.
