As Nigeria marks Democracy Day, the Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, has praised residents for their enduring commitment to democratic values, national unity, and local development.
In a goodwill message to commemorate the day, Hon. Akinloye described democracy as the bedrock of Nigeria’s progress and a guiding force behind the growth witnessed in Eredo LCDA.
“Today, we celebrate the strength of our voices and the power of our unity,” Akinloye stated. “Democracy is the foundation upon which our hopes for a better future are built, and your unwavering support continues to drive the transformation we see in Eredo.”
The council boss urged residents to use the occasion of Democracy Day to reflect on the nation’s democratic journey, while recommitting to peace, justice, and inclusive development at the grassroots level.
“Let us reflect on how far we’ve come and remain dedicated to building a just and peaceful society,” he added. “Together, we will continue to shape a community we are proud to call home.”
Eredo LCDA, one of the five LCDAs in the Epe Division of Lagos State, has recorded steady infrastructural and social progress under the leadership of Hon. Akinloye, with projects focused on road development, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.
Democracy Day, observed annually on June 12, marks the anniversary of the annulled 1993 presidential election—widely regarded as Nigeria’s most credible poll—and honors the sacrifices made in the struggle for democratic governance.
