In a message commemorating Democracy Day 2025, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, has hailed the resilience of Nigerians and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to inclusive governance, community development, and democratic accountability.
Reflecting on the significance of June 12, Anomo described it as more than a public holiday—it is a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made for Nigeria’s democratic rebirth, particularly by Late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola (GCFR), and other pro-democracy heroes who paid the ultimate price.
“This day is etched in the annals of our democratic journey. It reminds us of the collective will and courage of Nigerians who stood for freedom, justice, and civil governance,” the council boss said.
He noted that while the country still grapples with economic challenges, Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA has continued to make notable progress in key sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security—achievements made possible through shared purpose and the support of residents.
“Despite economic headwinds, our LCDA has recorded important milestones—from rehabilitated rural roads and improved access to primary healthcare, to youth empowerment programs and enhanced local security,” Anomo noted.
He expressed optimism that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will foster long-term economic recovery and inclusive development, urging citizens to remain hopeful and engaged.
“We must deepen our trust in democratic institutions and continue believing in a future built on equity and opportunity for all,” he said.
The Chairman also commended the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, whose T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda he described as a driving force for grassroots transformation across Lagos State.
“Their commitment to empowering communities and driving sustainable growth at the local level is evident across every sector,” Anomo added.
Reaffirming his administration’s core values, Anomo assured the people of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA that transparency, fairness, and responsiveness will continue to guide local governance. He pledged to strengthen grassroots engagement and ensure that every ward and stakeholder plays a role in the council’s development process.
“Democracy is not just the absence of dictatorship—it is the presence of accountability, fairness, and opportunity for all,” he stressed.
The Democracy Day message concluded with a call for unity, patriotism, and remembrance of the sacrifices that made Nigeria’s democratic system possible.
“May the sacrifices of our past heroes not be in vain. May our unity remain unbroken. May Ikosi-Ejinrin continue to thrive.”
