DIG Sadiq Idris Abubakar Visits FCID Annex Lagos, Reiterates Call for Professionalism and Integrity

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Sadiq Idris Abubakar today visited the FCID Annex in Ikoyi, Lagos, as part of his ongoing familiarization tour.

The visit was disclosed by the Public Relations Officer of the Annex, ASP Mayegun Aminat, who highlighted its significance in reinforcing operational standards and morale among officers.

DIG Abubakar was received by AIG Margaret Ochalla and her management team. During his address, he commended officers for their discipline and dedication to duty, while emphasizing the core values of professionalism, ethical conduct, and respect for human rights. He also reminded personnel of the importance of proper appearance and punctuality.

The DIG delivered a strong message against misconduct, warning that bribery, extortion, and unprofessional investigative practices would not be tolerated. He urged officers to uphold the highest standards of policing in order to maintain public trust and protect the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.

Speaking on welfare issues, DIG Abubakar acknowledged current challenges and assured officers that leadership is actively working to improve conditions, particularly in the area of staff accommodation.

As part of the visit, the DIG also toured the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), engaging with team leaders and reiterating expectations of discipline, efficiency, and service excellence.

In a closing address, AIG Ochalla thanked DIG Abubakar for his visit and leadership, expressing the team’s commitment to uphold the principles he outlined.
