The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, has arraigned Adepoju Emmanuel Abiodun, promoter of the sports betting platform Bigibet, alongside his company, Nobelsteed Nigerian Limited, for allegedly defrauding investors of over ₦855 million.
Abiodun and his firm were brought before Justice O.A. Okunuga of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja on Wednesday, July 8, 2025. The EFCC is prosecuting the defendants on a 10-count charge bordering on stealing and obtaining money under false pretence.
According to the charge sheet, the accused purportedly lured investors with a promise of high returns through Bigibet, a betting and investment platform, but diverted the funds for personal use.
The EFCC maintains that the offences contravene Sections 1(1)(a) and 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006, and Section 278(1)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Justice Okunuga ordered that the defendant be remanded in EFCC custody pending the hearing of his bail application.
The case was adjourned to a later date for trial.
