The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, has expressed deep sorrow over the transition of His Royal Majesty, Oba Shefiu Adewale Bamgbopa, Eshilokun I, the Olu Epe of Epe Kingdom, describing it as a profound loss to the people and heritage of the community.
In a heartfelt condolence message released on Saturday, Hon. Animashaun joined the royal family, traditional council, and the entire Epe community in mourning the revered monarch, who, she said, has “joined his ancestors after a life of noble service and honour.”
“Kabiyesi’s transition is not just the end of a reign; it is the departure of a guardian of our heritage and a symbol of unity, peace, and wisdom in Epe Kingdom,” the statement read. “He was a spiritual compass, a steady father figure, and a monarch who bore the crown with unmatched dignity and humility.”
Oba Bamgbopa, Eshilokun I, was widely respected for his calm leadership, moral authority, and unwavering commitment to the development and cultural preservation of Epe. Hon. Animashaun reflected on her close working relationship with the late monarch, describing him as a dependable partner in governance and a royal father whose counsel guided the local government through numerous achievements.
“His Majesty was a source of strength and inspiration to me personally and to our administration. His guidance shaped many of our community-centered policies, and his support will never be forgotten,” she said.
While the community mourns his passage to the ancestral realm, Hon. Animashaun called on the people of Epe to uphold the values and legacy the monarch left behind—one rooted in harmony, service, and respect for tradition.
“May Almighty Allah grant His Royal Majesty eternal rest in Aljanah Firdaus and grant the people of Epe the strength to preserve the legacy of peace and dignity he built,” she concluded.
