The Federal Government has declared Friday, 5 September 2025, as a public holiday in honor of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the Islamic celebration commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, announced the declaration, urging Nigerians to embrace the Prophet’s values of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion, which he described as essential to national unity and progressive development . The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, issued the statement on the minister’s behalf .
The celebration offers an opportunity for Nigerians, regardless of faith, to pray for peace, security, and stability, and to support efforts towards national harmony and sustainable development
