In a bold move to improve the standard of public education in Kano State, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has launched the distribution of instructional materials valued at N2.8 billion to schools across the state.
The materials, unveiled during a flag-off ceremony in Kano, include a wide range of educational and extracurricular resources such as laboratory equipment, laptops, textbooks, attendance registers, sportswear, and kits—all aimed at enhancing teaching, learning, and physical development in public schools.
Governor Yusuf described the initiative as a “strategic investment in the future of our children,” emphasizing that it goes beyond just providing books. “We are equipping our schools with the tools needed for science, technology, digital education, and physical wellbeing,” he stated.
The distribution is a key component of the governor’s broader education reform agenda, which also includes the solar electrification of 200 schools, the recruitment of 17,600 school security guards, and the absorption of BESDA (Better Education Service Delivery for All) staff into the civil service.
Governor Yusuf urged school principals and administrators to ensure the materials are used effectively and maintained properly. He also announced that the government would monitor the deployment of the resources to ensure they directly benefit students across the state.
The ceremony drew wide praise from education stakeholders, local government officials, and traditional leaders, who commended the administration’s commitment to revitalizing public education in Kano.
