Activities marking the week-long coronation anniversary of the Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba (TPL) Abdul Rasaq Akanni Musa, have commenced, with residents and indigenes at home and in the diaspora gearing up for a series of cultural and traditional events.
The celebrations officially kicked off with a Jumat service, held to usher in the anniversary programmes and seek divine guidance for the monarch, the kingdom and its people, ahead of the major traditional ceremonies lined up for the week.
The coronation anniversary will also feature the installation of key traditional chiefs and Baales, an exercise described by community leaders as significant to the strengthening of traditional governance and cultural heritage in Igbooye Kingdom.
Those to be formally installed include Chief Abdulbari Olugabenga Quadri, the Olisa of Igbooye Kingdom; Chief Oludare Moruf Salami, the Egbá of Igbooye Kingdom; and Chief Rasao Oladipo Sanni, the Otun of Igbooye Kingdom. Others are Chief Oluwaranti Adebanjo, the Eletu of Igbooye Kingdom; Chief Yinka Oguntimehin, the Balogun of Igbooye Kingdom; and Chief Rufus Aderipe, the Aro of Igbooye Kingdom.
Also listed for installation are Chief (Mrs) Olusola Omotoso, the Erelu of Igbooye Kingdom, and Chief (Mrs) Silifat Jadesola Amadasun, the Iyalode of Igbooye Kingdom, marking a strong representation of women in the kingdom’s traditional council.
According to organisers, the installation ceremony of the traditional chiefs is scheduled to begin in earnest tomorrow, forming a central part of the anniversary celebrations.
The coronation anniversary of Oba Abdul Rasaq Akanni Musa is regarded as a historic milestone for Igbooye Kingdom, with the events expected to reinforce unity, cultural pride and traditional institutions within the community.
