IGP Egbetokun Joins Global Security Leaders at INTERPOL’s 27th African Regional Conference in South Africa

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun is participating in the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference in South Africa, a strategic platform aimed at strengthening global collaboration in the fight against transnational crimes.

The high-level meeting has drawn over 200 police chiefs and security leaders from 56 countries, including senior law enforcement officials and security experts, to deliberate on pressing global and regional security challenges. Discussions are focused on intelligence sharing, cross-border policing strategies, and practical approaches to tackling organized crime networks.

As part of his engagement, the IGP is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on “Cattle Theft in West Africa: A Conduit for Terrorism and CBRNE Threats.” The presentation will highlight the link between cattle rustling, terrorism financing, and emerging threats involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive materials in the sub-region.

On the sidelines of the conference, IGP Egbetokun is holding strategic bilateral meetings with the INTERPOL President, Major General Naser Alraisi, and the INTERPOL Secretary General, Mr. Valdecy Urquiza. These discussions aim to deepen operational partnerships, enhance intelligence exchange, and strengthen mutual legal assistance frameworks to combat cross-border crimes effectively.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to regional and global security collaboration, pledging to remain an active and dependable partner in international law enforcement efforts while ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians both at home and abroad.
