Women have played pivotal roles in shaping societies, leading movements, and transforming industries.
So says the Executive Chairman Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos, Mr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on the commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day celebration.
Mr. Olowa said it is a day dedicated to recognizing the incredible achievements and contributions of women across the globe.
According to him, from science and politics to business and the arts, women have continued to break barriers and redefined possibilities.
“The theme for this year, “Empower, Inspire, Elevate”*, is a call to action. It urges us to uplift the women around us, ensuring they have equal opportunities to thrive and succeed”.
He noted that empowering women means giving them the tools, education, and confidence to take charge of their own lives.
“It means dismantling the biases that hold them back and fostering an environment where they are valued and respected”.
Mr. Olowa said in a statement emphasized “Our administration has made progress, through various empowerment programmes and advocacy for the women folk in our society as we are committed to continue to do more for them”.
