The Kano State Police Command has arrested a man, Mansur Umar, for allegedly killing his sister’s boyfriend, Sulaiman Musa, in a tragic incident that occurred in Kunya Village, Minjibir Local Government Area.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident happened on May 9, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m. when the victim visited his girlfriend, Fiddausi Umar, at her residence. During the visit, he was reportedly attacked by her brother, Mansur Umar, who struck him on the head with a stick, inflicting serious injuries.
“The victim was rushed to Kunya Cottage Hospital and later referred to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he died at about 12:50 a.m. the following day,” SP Kiyawa stated while briefing journalists in Kano.
The suspect has since been apprehended, and the case is currently being handled by the Homicide Section of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The police have urged residents to exercise emotional restraint and avoid taking the law into their own hands, noting that unchecked anger can lead to irreversible consequences.
In a statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, called on members of the public to prioritize peaceful resolution of conflicts and report any disputes or suspicious activities to the nearest police station. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining law and order across the state.
