Residents of communities affected by security challenges in Kwara State have been urged not to lose faith in the ability of government and security agencies to restore lasting peace and stability across the state.
The Jagunmolu and Asiwaju of Igbomina Land, Alhaji Abdur-Raheem Oladimeji, made the appeal in a statement issued in Ilorin, following recent security breaches in parts of Kwara North and Kwara South Senatorial Districts.
Oladimeji expressed optimism that the current wave of insecurity would not overwhelm the state government, assuring that the combined efforts of the military, police, and other security agencies would eventually yield positive results.
He described the incidents of banditry and kidnapping for ransom as a temporary phase orchestrated by criminal elements seeking to destabilize the state, noting that such acts represent a form of unconventional warfare that requires tactical precision and intelligence to counter.
“The attackers often operate in secrecy, striking and retreating into hiding after their assaults. It takes strategy, cooperation, and patience to defeat them,” he stated.
Oladimeji also cautioned individuals who attempt to politicize or exploit the misfortunes of affected communities through divisive or insensitive remarks, urging them to refrain from making reckless comments that could undermine peace efforts.
He further called on residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious movement or activity in their neighborhoods to security agencies for prompt intervention.
According to him, community cooperation and timely intelligence remain vital in the ongoing fight against insecurity and in restoring peace to all parts of Kwara State.
