Labour Party chieftain and aspirant for the Federal House of Representatives, Epe Federal Constituency, Dr. Abdulkareem Onakoya, has expressed optimism and renewed focus ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in Lagos State, citing the growing enthusiasm among residents of Epe as a sign of a political awakening.
In a statement shared on Monday morning, Dr. Onakoya acknowledged the “resounding volume” of calls and support he received from constituents over the weekend, describing it as a strong indicator of the people’s readiness for progressive change under the Labour Party banner.
“It shows that we are ready for a change and a progressive movement in Epe for a better tomorrow,” he said.
The federal legislative hopeful did not mince words in calling out what he described as years of misgovernance and neglect in the region. He attributed Epe’s longstanding underdevelopment to the greed and selfish interests of current and past political office holders, asserting that a shift in leadership is long overdue.
“We have suffered so long a time in this part of the state due to the greed and selfish interests of our leaders and representatives in all political offices,” Dr. Onakoya emphasized.
He noted that leading the charge for change has not only energized his mission but also deepened his resolve to upend the status quo in Epe’s political landscape.
“Leading this struggle gladdens my heart and makes me more focused on the reasons behind changing the narratives,” he stated.
Calling for unity and grassroots participation, Dr. Onakoya urged residents of Epe to actively join the Labour Party’s mobilization efforts ahead of the LG polls. He emphasized the importance of matching words with action, rallying supporters with the message:
“Join us NOW as we ‘talk our walk and walk our talk.’”
Dr. Onakoya signed off with a reaffirmation of the Labour Party’s progressive slogan: “Labour Party, Forward Ever!”
