Lagos LG Polls: Lawmaker Sketel Rallies Support for APC in Eredo, Calls for Massive Turnout

With days to the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency II, Hon. Ogunkelu Oluwadahunsi Sylvester, popularly known as Sketel, has intensified grassroots mobilization across Eredo LCDA in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.

Hon. Sketel, a first-term legislator known for his energetic and grassroots-driven politics, led a campaign and sensitization tour of five wards in Eredo over the weekend. He joined party loyalists, local leaders, and supporters to rally voters behind Hon. Monsuru Akinloye, the APC chairmanship candidate for Eredo LCDA, and councilorship hopefuls under the party platform.

Addressing party faithful at various stops during the tour, Sketel underscored the importance of full voter participation, urging constituents to mobilize their households, friends, and communities ahead of Saturday’s polls. He described the upcoming local government elections as a test of loyalty and commitment to the progressive agenda of the APC at both state and federal levels.

“This election is not just about local governance—it is about showing strength, unity, and readiness to deliver overwhelming results in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the lawmaker declared. “We must not only vote but ensure we win resoundingly.”

Sketel emphasized continuity in leadership, particularly at the grassroots, saying the APC candidates in Eredo represent tested hands with a track record of service. “Experience is better than experiment,” he said, reinforcing the party’s campaign theme around leadership stability and developmental consistency.

The lawmaker’s presence and speech drew enthusiastic responses from supporters, with chants of “Hon. Sketel we know, Hon. Ogunkelu we trust, Hon. Dahunsi beyond 2027” echoing through campaign grounds in Ward H1, Igbooye, and other wards visited.

The campaign train also served as an opportunity for official presentations of APC councilorship candidates across the wards, with party elders and stakeholders urging peaceful conduct and full participation.

Eredo LCDA, one of the key components of the Epe political bloc, holds strategic significance in Lagos electoral politics. With its mix of rural and peri-urban communities, voter turnout and grassroots mobilization are expected to play a decisive role in Saturday’s outcome.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has scheduled the polls to hold from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on July 12. Observers say Epe Division, which includes Eredo, Epe, and Ikosi-Ejinrin, will be closely watched for its organizational strength and voter behavior ahead of future state and national contests.

Hon. Sketel’s campaign push adds momentum to APC’s broader strategy to retain dominance at the local level and reaffirm its grassroots presence in Lagos East.
