The Lagos State Police Command has deployed additional tactical units to Mushin and surrounding areas following rising concerns from residents over recent incidents of broad-daylight attacks, harassment, and theft perpetrated by teenage miscreants aged between 14 and 16.
Responding swiftly to community feedback and distress calls, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, ordered the deployment of Police Tactical Squads, Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel, and other conventional police units to restore order and apprehend the perpetrators. According to the Command, full normalcy has been restored, and residents are advised to continue their daily activities without fear.
As part of a broader security reinforcement initiative, the Area Commander covering Mushin has been directed to collaborate with the chairmen of the two local government areas in the district. This collaboration has produced a joint strategy aimed at enhancing existing security architecture and ensuring the sustained safety of residents and traders alike.
In a targeted operation on Monday, officers raided criminal hideouts and identified black spots in Ishaga, Awolowo, and Ojuwoye markets. The operation led to the arrest of 23 suspects allegedly involved in recent assaults and theft. All suspects are currently under investigation and will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of the process.
The Command has vowed to sustain these operations until all criminal elements are flushed out of the Mushin area.
Commissioner Jimoh reaffirmed the police’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property in Lagos State, emphasizing that Mushin residents—and Lagosians at large—remain the top priority.
The Command urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station. Officers have been instructed to respond swiftly to all distress calls.
