Lagos Taskforce Raids Drug Dens in Gowon Estate, Arrests 19 Suspects

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce has arrested 19 suspects following a targeted operation to dismantle drug trafficking networks and criminal hideouts around Gowon Estate and its environs.

The raid, carried out as part of the Taskforce’s ongoing crackdown on illicit activities across the metropolis, uncovered large quantities of controlled substances, including Colorado, Indian hemp, and other narcotics. Several bags of hard drugs were also found concealed in the boots of parked vehicles in the area.

Chairman of the Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, said the operation underscores the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward drug abuse, trafficking, and public nuisance. “This operation reflects our commitment to restoring safety and order. The suspects will be prosecuted, and investigations are ongoing,” he stated.

He urged Lagos residents to support security efforts by reporting suspicious activities through the agency’s ‘See Something, Say Something’ initiative.

The Gowon Estate raid is the fifth in a series of strategic enforcement actions by the Taskforce aimed at dismantling drug hubs and curbing hooliganism in identified black spots across the state.
