As the festive season is always characterized by heightened traffic situation across Lagos, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has intensified the deployment of advanced technology known as the Whistle app as part of strategies to mitigating traffic congestion during the period under review.
In a statement by the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, the agency advised motorists in the state that instead of merely lamenting about some traffic infractions, they now have a practical tool in the Whistle app to report such violations.
“Once verified, our teams will deploy necessary resources to address these issues promptly”
Mr. Taofiq stated that this pioneering application empowers Lagosians to report reckless driving, traffic violations, one-way contraventions, and other disruptive occurrences directly to LASTMA.
” Whether navigating a traffic snarl, witnessing an accident, or encountering a hazardous vehicle, users can seamlessly alert nearby LASTMA personnel.
According to him, upon receiving such reports, the agency will respond swiftly to address the situation whether by decongesting traffic, managing accident scenes, or removing obstructive vehicles, thereby fostering a safer and more efficient commuting experience for all.

The agency urges the public to collaborate with traffic controllers in cultivating safer and more orderly roadways throughout the state.
LASTMA also called for a joint force to reduce traffic bottlenecks and ensure a smooth and enjoyable festive season for all road users in the state.
