The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has formally responded to social media allegations made by Mr. Chiemelle Kyriam Offor, who claimed that unidentified LASTMA officers engaged in misconduct in the Iponri area of Surulere on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
In a press statement, the agency said it launched an immediate internal investigation following Mr. Offor’s Facebook post. The review included debriefing officers deployed along the Surulere–Iponri corridor, cross-checking duty rosters and operational logs, and reaching out to Mr. Offor through his social media handle to request key details such as vehicle registration numbers, officer descriptions, or any supporting evidence.
According to the statement, no operational records or personnel accounts aligned with the incident described in the allegation. Furthermore, the agency noted that Mr. Offor has yet to provide any verifiable information to support his claims. LASTMA also stated that a physical check of the Surulere axis did not confirm the existence of any medical facility named “Faithview Hospital” as referenced in Mr. Offor’s account.
“LASTMA remains committed to professionalism and ethical conduct in all its operations,” said Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment. “We uphold transparency in public engagement, as demonstrated by the introduction of our toll-free hotline (080000527862) for real-time feedback and complaints.”
The agency emphasized that it thoroughly investigates all credible reports of officer misconduct but, in this case, has found no substantiating evidence or actionable information to support Mr. Offor’s claims.
LASTMA reiterated its call for the complainant or any witnesses to provide further information through the designated hotline to ensure the matter is conclusively addressed. The agency assured the public of its ongoing commitment to citizen-focused traffic enforcement and accountability.
