The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has once again demonstrated its leadership in traffic governance and road safety enforcement by emerging as the Overall Best “State Traffic Management Agency of the Year” at the 2025 Nigeria Transport and Logistics Leadership Summit and Awards held in Abuja.
The prestigious recognition followed a rigorous national nomination process and a transparent online voting exercise across multiple media platforms, culminating in LASTMA’s selection as Nigeria’s foremost traffic management institution.
This honour stands as a testament to LASTMA’s unwavering commitment to operational excellence, innovative service delivery, and the promotion of a safe, efficient, and sustainable traffic environment in Lagos State.
The event, which took place on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, brought together key policymakers, regulators, industry experts, and thought leaders from across Nigeria’s transport and logistics sector. It provided a platform to celebrate institutions and professionals whose leadership and strategic interventions continue to shape the future of mobility and logistics in the country.
Representing the Authority at the ceremony, Mr. Jubril Oshodi, Director of Logistics and Transport, received the award on behalf of the General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki.
In his remarks, Mr. Oshodi expressed heartfelt appreciation to the organisers and the voting public for recognising LASTMA’s consistent efforts in promoting traffic discipline, ensuring safety, and sustaining order on Lagos roads.
He dedicated the award to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, whose visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to modernising the State’s transportation system have enabled LASTMA’s continued success.
Mr. Oshodi further commended the Ministry of Transportation including the Honourable Commissioner, Special Adviser, and Permanent Secretary or their strategic guidance and steadfast support in repositioning the Authority for greater efficiency and impact.
In his post-award statement, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the honour as both “a distinguished recognition and a renewed call to service,” reaffirming the Authority’s resolve to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, innovation, and discipline in line with global best practices.
He pledged that LASTMA would continue to harness technology, capacity building, and stakeholder collaboration to address the evolving challenges of urban traffic management in Lagos.
The Summit and Awards ceremony also featured keynote presentations from eminent figures, including the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’id Ahmed Alkali, and the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, among others.
LASTMA’s recognition as the “State Traffic Management Agency of the Year” underscores its pioneering role as a benchmark of operational excellence and a model institution for other state traffic management agencies across Nigeria.
