In a bold step toward grassroots empowerment and community development, Miss Bukola Amusan, the reigning Miss Oreke of Ejinrin Kingdom, will on Saturday, June 7, 2025, inaugurate a financial aid initiative targeted at elderly women petty traders.
The initiative, titled the Miss Oreke Cash Support Program, marks its maiden edition with the provision of direct cash grants to selected elderly traders across the kingdom. The goal, according to organizers, is to help sustain small-scale businesses and relieve some of the financial burdens faced by aging women entrepreneurs in the community.
“This is a practical demonstration of compassion, inclusion, and economic support for some of the most vulnerable in our society,” Miss Amusan stated, adding that the program is designed to “uplift and empower those often overlooked in the development conversation.”
Community stakeholders, including the Ejinrin Youth Organization, have lauded the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful. “Miss Oreke has shown true leadership and empathy with this gesture. We are proud of her commitment to improving lives in our community,” said a spokesperson for the youth group.
The Miss Oreke Cash Support Program is expected to be an annual event and could serve as a model for similar empowerment efforts in other local communities.
