The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has issued a formal invitation to social media influencer and musician Darlington Okoye, widely known as Speed Darlington, to appear before the agency for questioning regarding alleged online content involving sexual conduct with a minor.
In an official letter dated May 28, 2025, and addressed to Mr. Okoye, NAPTIP referenced multiple videos circulating on social media, including one in which the entertainer allegedly claims to have engaged in sexual activity with an underage girl. The letter, signed by Ngamaraju Titus Mangzha, Head of the Cybercrime Response Team, stated that the material in question raises serious concerns that fall within the agency’s investigative mandate.
According to NAPTIP, additional archived footage also appears to contain similar statements suggesting unlawful behavior involving minors. The agency noted that if verified, such actions could constitute criminal offences under Nigerian law, specifically the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015 and the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
The letter reads in part: “We write to formally invite you to appear before the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in respect of certain video materials recently circulated online, including but not limited to a particular Instagram video wherein you allegedly made statements admitting to having engaged in sexual acts with an underage girl.”
Mr. Okoye has been directed to report to NAPTIP’s headquarters at 2028 Dalaba Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, for an investigative interview.
The agency emphasized the importance of Mr. Okoye’s cooperation in ensuring a fair and thorough inquiry. It also warned that failure to comply with the invitation may result in legal action.
NAPTIP has advised Mr. Okoye to appear with any legal representation or documentation relevant to the case.
As of the time of this report, Mr. Okoye has not publicly responded to the agency’s invitation.
