NDLEA Epe Command Seeks Royal Support in Fight Against Drug Abuse

The Epe Area Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community partnerships in the ongoing fight against drug abuse and related crimes.

A delegation from the Command, led by the newly appointed Area Commander, DCN Bashir Magaji, paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa, the Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom, at his palace in Igbooye, Eredo LCDA.

The visit, part of the agency’s community engagement initiative, was aimed at paying homage to the traditional ruler, seeking royal blessings, and fostering collaboration with the community in line with the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign.

Speaking during the visit, the NDLEA team emphasized the importance of synergy between security agencies, traditional institutions, and residents in addressing the challenges posed by illicit drug use and trafficking.

In his response, Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa lauded the NDLEA’s proactive engagement and expressed the palace’s readiness to support the agency in sensitizing the community and mobilizing youths against drug abuse. He urged continuous grassroots advocacy and awareness programs to safeguard the future of young people in Igbooye and surrounding communities.

The visit underscored the shared responsibility in the fight against drug abuse and highlighted the crucial role of traditional leaders in fostering safer, drug-free communities across Lagos State.
