The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Wale Adeniyi, has commended the growing capabilities of Nigeria’s automotive industry following an inspection of locally assembled vehicles in Abuja.
The event, which aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to revitalize trade and strengthen investor confidence, was organized in collaboration with the Nigerian Automobile Manufacturers Association (NAMA). It featured a display of locally assembled vehicles aimed at boosting domestic production and reducing reliance on imports.
During the inspection, Adeniyi praised the vehicles for their quality, design, and performance. “These vehicles are not only visually impressive but also functionally reliable. It’s encouraging to see products that proudly reflect Nigerian craftsmanship and innovation,” he said.
Industry leaders at the event echoed similar sentiments. Chief Cedric Tekus, CEO of Cedric Masters Group, expressed gratitude for Adeniyi’s consistent advocacy for local manufacturing. Mr. Oluwatobi Ajayi, Chairman of Nord Automobiles, also commended the NCS for its leading role in implementing Nigeria’s automobile policy, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to patronizing homegrown brands.
Jonas Ojukwu, Director at Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, assured the Customs Service of continued support in delivering high-quality vehicles tailored to enhance operational efficiency.
The inspection is seen as a significant endorsement of local content development and underscores the federal government’s broader push for industrial growth and self-sufficiency.
