The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, has commenced the screening exercise for candidates seeking admission into the 12th Regular Course Intake, marking another step in the Academy’s ongoing effort to strengthen the quality of police training and recruitment in Nigeria.
The exercise, which began on Monday, 6th October, 2025, drew the participation of key dignitaries and stakeholders from the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Among those received by the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, MSc (UK), MBA (USA), psc, were Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (Rtd), a former Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria representing the judiciary on the Police Service Commission, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd), fdc, who represented the Nigeria Police Force and serves as Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Commandant and senior officers of the Academy before being conducted around the screening venues to observe the exercise. The visiting officials commended the level of organization, transparency, and professionalism exhibited by officers involved in the process, describing it as a model for merit-based recruitment.
They urged all personnel overseeing the exercise to remain firm, fair, and committed to upholding the integrity of the selection process.
According to AIG Atayero, the screening represents a crucial phase in ensuring that only the most qualified, disciplined, and patriotic candidates are admitted into the Police Academy. He reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to merit-driven selection and to producing officers who embody professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation.
The screening exercise continues this week, with candidates from across the country undergoing thorough verification and assessment as part of the Academy’s drive to build a stronger, more credible police force.
