The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, has paid glowing tribute to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, marking his two-year anniversary in office with high commendation for his transformational leadership and commitment to reforming the Nigeria Police Force.
In a public congratulatory message issued by the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick Atayero, the institution lauded IGP Egbetokun’s visionary leadership, describing his tenure as impactful and reform-driven. The statement praised the IGP’s efforts in improving police welfare, enhancing internal security, and steering institutional reforms aimed at repositioning the Force for modern policing challenges.

IGP Egbetokun, who assumed office as the 22nd Inspector General of Police in June, 2023, has since championed several policy reforms within the Force. His administration has prioritized intelligence-led policing, community engagement, digital innovation, and the welfare of officers across all ranks. He has also advanced partnerships with local and international stakeholders to combat crime and bolster public trust in law enforcement.
AIG Atayero, under whose leadership the Police Academy has grown in capacity development and professional training, noted that the IGP’s accomplishments over the past two years have served as a source of inspiration to both senior and junior officers, especially in training institutions like the Academy.

Dr. Kayode Egbetokun holds a PhD in Peace and Security Studies and has served in various capacities within the Force, including as Chief Security Officer to the late Governor of Lagos State, Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and Commissioner of Police in several states. His appointment as IGP was based on a track record of operational excellence and strategic leadership.
