The Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State, has successfully concluded the screening exercise for candidates seeking admission into its 12th Regular Course, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, merit, and professionalism in police training and recruitment.
The exercise, which commenced on October 6 and ended on October 15, 2025, was conducted under the supervision of observers from the Ministry of Police Affairs and the Police Service Commission. All relevant stakeholders actively participated to ensure that the process adhered strictly to the principles of fairness and integrity.
Speaking at the conclusion of the exercise, the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick A. Atayero restated his determination to maintain a corruption-free and transparent screening process. He emphasized that admission into the Academy is strictly based on merit and warned prospective candidates against offering money or inducements to any individual, stressing that admission remains free and not for sale.
The Commandant commended the dedication and professionalism of the officers, staff, and stakeholders who worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth and credible exercise. He expressed appreciation for their cooperation and commitment to upholding the vision of the Academy as a premier institution for producing well-trained, disciplined, and academically sound police officers.
AIG Atayero also advised applicants and members of the public to obtain authentic information and updates regarding the admission process only from credible and verified sources. He noted that the official portal of the Academy, its verified media platforms, and the authorised Nigeria Police Academy Facebook page remain the only legitimate channels for official communication.
He reaffirmed that the successful completion of the screening exercise marks another milestone in the ongoing efforts of the Nigeria Police Academy to promote excellence and accountability in police education and leadership development. According to him, the Academy will continue to nurture officers who embody professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation.
The Nigeria Police Academy, established in 1988 and upgraded to a degree-awarding institution in 2013, remains the nation’s foremost centre for police training, combining rigorous academic instruction with operational discipline to produce officers equipped to meet modern policing challenges.
The Commandant further reiterated that the institution’s ultimate goal is to contribute to the Federal Government’s drive toward a professionally competent, ethical, and citizen-focused Police Force capable of upholding internal security and the rule of law.
