The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, has held its maiden combined convocation ceremony for officers of Regular Courses 1 to 7, marking a historic milestone in the institution’s evolution as Nigeria’s premier police training institute. The ceremony also featured the commissioning of the newly constructed 1,000-seater IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun Multipurpose Hall.
The Honourable Minister of Police Affairs performed the commissioning through his representative, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Anuma Ogbonnaya Nnia. The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, was represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, DIG Sadiq Abubakar, who also served as the 23rd Commandant of the Academy.
The 24th Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, led the management and staff in receiving dignitaries, security sector stakeholders, and invited guests at the event, describing the ceremony as a major achievement in the academy’s commitment to academic excellence and professional grooming of future police leaders.
The convocation was conducted in a colourful and orderly manner, underscoring the Academy’s renewed focus on discipline, professionalism, and global policing standards under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Academy, DSP Musa Isah Umar, the newly commissioned multipurpose hall will serve as a critical facility for training, conferences, and high-level engagements.
The ceremony reaffirms the Nigeria Police Academy’s strategic role in strengthening the nation’s internal security architecture through rigorous academic and professional training.
