NIGERIA POLICE ACADEMY MARKS 70 YEARS OF WOMEN IN POLICING, CELEBRATES TRAILBLAZERS

The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, has joined the Nigeria Police Force in marking 70 years of women’s service in policing, a historic milestone that underscores the courage, resilience and transformational impact of female officers.

The 24th Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, MSc (UK), MBA (USA), psc, MSPSP, paid tribute to generations of women who have contributed to national security, describing them as trailblazers whose dedication and professionalism continue to strengthen the Force. He noted that their achievements reflect decades of perseverance and deserved special recognition.

AIG Atayero also reaffirmed the Academy’s commitment to advancing gender inclusion within its training systems and leadership pipelines. He said the Academy is intensifying efforts to ensure that female cadets receive equal opportunities for growth, leadership and career advancement, thereby enriching the future of policing in Nigeria.

The commemoration is in line with ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force aimed at expanding women’s participation, promoting equity, and strengthening mentorship opportunities for young female officers across commands and formations.
