Nigeria has strengthened its global policing influence as Commissioner of Police Olubode Ojajuni won a keenly contested election to secure a seat on the INTERPOL Africa Committee. The election took place during the 27th African Regional Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa, marking Nigeria’s fifth representation on the Committee for a two-year tenure.
The INTERPOL Africa Committee plays a pivotal role in advising the African Regional Conference, facilitating its sessions, and setting strategic priorities in crime prevention and law enforcement. It also drives cross-border police collaboration, promotes global best practices, and develops innovative projects to strengthen regional and continental security.
This milestone underscores Nigeria’s growing leadership in global law enforcement, particularly in combating transnational crimes, terrorism, cybercrime, and other emerging threats. With CP Ojajuni now on the Committee, Nigeria is set to deepen its contributions to shaping effective strategies within the INTERPOL framework.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun ongratulated CP Ojajuni, noting that the victory is a testament to the Nigeria Police Force’s professionalism and commitment to international cooperation. He pledged the Force’s continued partnership with global security agencies to promote peace, stability, and the rule of law worldwide.
