Nigeria will play host to five other African countries precisely Kenya, Uganda, Namibia, Tanzania and Sierra Leone from March 26 to April 6, as the six countries vie for Africa’s sole ticket to the 2026 ICC U-19 Men’s T20 World Cup which will be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia.
The Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval and the University of Lagos Cricket Oval will host the round-robin matches between the countries as both grounds have been optimised and certified ready for the regional tournament.
Nigeria’s Junior Yellow Greens and their five opponents will compete for the continent’s sole ticket to the World Cup.
All six countries will face off in a round-robin format and the eventual winner will earn the honour of representing Africa at the next World Cup.
Nigeria had before now achieved the feat, securing the African ticket in 2019 and competing in the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup hosted in South Africa in 2020.
