The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved a major reorganisation of the Nigeria Police Force, with the redeployment of senior officers across commands, including the posting of a new Commissioner of Police to Lagos State.
In the latest postings, Olubode Ojajuni has been redeployed to head the Ogun State Command, while Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police in Lagos State.
The changes form part of efforts by the police leadership to strengthen operational efficiency, improve command structure and enhance service delivery nationwide.
The redeployments also affected several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, who have been assigned to key departments and zonal commands, including operations, training, armament and community policing at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Other commissioners of police were similarly reassigned to strategic positions across state commands and specialised units, including the Federal Capital Territory, INTERPOL, Special Fraud Unit and the Force Criminal Investigation Department.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, the postings are aimed at repositioning the force through effective leadership deployment and improved coordination across formations.
The police boss charged the affected officers to bring their experience to bear in their new assignments and uphold professionalism, discipline and commitment to duty.
Observers say the latest shake-up comes at a critical time as the force prepares to address evolving security challenges and strengthen policing ahead of upcoming national engagements.
