In a symbolic gesture promoting unity, culture, and gender inclusion, the Olori of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Ashley Afolasade Ogunwusi, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) Lagos, CP Okunade Ronke Nurat, FSI, on Monday, June 16, 2025.
The meeting, held at the Sunday Adewusi House in Ikoyi, was attended by members of the PSFU management and team leaders. It underscored the growing intersection between traditional leadership and law enforcement in fostering societal values such as gender balance, community empowerment, girl-child education, and mutual respect.
During her address, Olori Ashley expressed admiration for CP Okunade’s accomplishments as a female police commissioner, noting that her position represents a significant step forward for women in security leadership. She emphasized her commitment to advocating for women’s contributions in nation-building and encouraged continued collaboration between traditional institutions and law enforcement.
The Olori also offered prayers for the Commissioner, invoking divine guidance and strength for her leadership responsibilities.
In her response, CP Okunade Ronke Nurat, FSI, thanked the royal guest for the visit, describing it as a reinforcement of cultural respect and civic responsibility. She praised the Olori’s advocacy, particularly in promoting women’s leadership, education for the girl child, and public trust through traditional influence.
The Commissioner also emphasized the vital role women play in shaping national values and called for sustained cooperation between traditional leaders and security agencies to foster peace, accountability, and inclusive development.
