In a major boost to humanitarian efforts in Nigeria, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has inaugurated the “Renewed Hope Resettlement City Center” in Keffi, Nasarawa State—a purpose-built community designed to house over 40 displaced families.
The project, spearheaded by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), is part of the federal government’s broader commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable populations through the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking at the inauguration, Senator Tinubu commended the National Commissioner for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Tijani Aliyu, and his team for their dedication to addressing the needs of persons of concern across the country.
“This resettlement city is a testament to what is possible when vision, compassion, and governance come together,” the First Lady said. “It embodies our administration’s resolve to provide sustainable solutions and restore dignity to displaced Nigerians.”
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State praised the initiative and acknowledged the contributions of past and present leadership at the Commission, including former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Senator Lado, and former Federal Commissioner, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman, who initiated the project.
Current Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Goshwe, alongside the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman, hailed the resettlement city as a transformative step in the federal government’s efforts to provide safe and dignified living for refugees, migrants, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Federal Commissioner Tijani Aliyu noted that the center is equipped with essential amenities such as housing, water, electricity, healthcare, and education facilities designed to support long-term resettlement and reintegration.
The event featured the distribution of food items and cash support to displaced persons, and culminated in the official unveiling of the resettlement city by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Governor Sule, and other dignitaries.
The Renewed Hope Resettlement City in Keffi is one of several planned across Nigeria to provide displaced populations with a path toward stability, safety, and sustainable livelihoods.
