One Killed, Two Injured in Ikorodu Road Crash

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed that one person died while two others sustained serious injuries in a fatal crash on the Idi-Iroko inward Ogolonto axis of Ikorodu Road.

According to preliminary investigations, the accident involved a fully loaded commercial Mazda bus (LND 490 SD) and a truck (EKY 121 YJ). Officials said the crash occurred when the bus, while recklessly vying for right of way along the main carriageway from the Agric axis, collided with the speeding truck.

In the tragic incident, a passenger sitting at the doorway of the bus was flung out and crushed under the truck’s rear tyres, resulting in instant death. LASTMA personnel, supported by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), rescued two other passengers — a man and a woman — who sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the Ikorodu General Hospital for emergency care.

The remains of the deceased were handed over to his family by officers of the Nigeria Police Force, while personnel from the Owutu Police Division provided security during the rescue operation.

To restore traffic flow, LASTMA officials cleared the wrecked bus and truck from the road after the evacuation.

LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the victim’s family and urged motorists to exercise restraint, patience, and civic responsibility, particularly along traffic-heavy routes like Ikorodu Road.

The agency reminded Lagos residents that they can report emergencies or traffic incidents through its toll-free hotline: 080000527862.
