The Oyo State Police Command has announced major breakthroughs in its ongoing intelligence-led operations, recording multiple arrests and recoveries aimed at curbing crime across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the operations are part of the sustained strategy under Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna to reinforce proactive crime prevention and boost community safety.
On Thursday, September 18, 2025, at about 9:11 p.m., operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol carried out a stop-and-search exercise at the Toll Gate, Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan. During the operation, a Toyota bus with registration number AFZ 933 XA was intercepted. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two locally made single-barrel firearms, two brand new short stainless steel machetes, and twenty live cartridges.
The driver, who failed to produce a valid driver’s license or any vehicle documents, was arrested and taken into custody alongside the bus.
In a related development, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, police operatives recovered a white Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 957 JX along the Ogbomoso–Iseyin Road during another intelligence-led operation.
Disturbingly, the same day, officers on patrol discovered suspected human flesh concealed in the hand luggage of a passenger inside a white commercial bus with registration number XA 551 IRG. The suspect was immediately taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine the source and motive behind the act.
“These recent successes highlight the effectiveness of our intelligence-driven operations in tackling crimes ranging from vehicle theft to illicit possession of firearms and other criminal activities,” the statement read.
CP Haruna reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring that Oyo State remains safe for residents and visitors. He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or persons to the nearest police formation.
