The Oyo State Police Command has announced comprehensive security measures ahead of the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, FNSE, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. The historic event, which will take place on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, is expected to attract dignitaries and participants from across Nigeria and beyond.
In a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday, September 25, by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the police said strategies have been perfected in collaboration with other security agencies to guarantee a safe and peaceful celebration. The measures include confidence-building patrols, intelligence-led surveillance, and stop-and-search operations, all of which will be intensified across the state. He explained that special attention will be given to major entry and exit points, highways, public parks, train stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport in Ibadan.
The Command further disclosed that traffic restrictions will be enforced in the vicinity of Mapo Hall from 7:00 a.m. on the day of the coronation. The affected routes include the stretch from Beere Junction to Mapo Hall, Born Photo Junction to Oja’ba, Idi-Arere Junction to Oja’ba, as well as Itamerin Junction to Mapo Hall. Motorists and residents were advised to use alternative routes and plan their movements in advance to minimize inconvenience.
While appealing to residents and visitors to cooperate with security operatives, the police issued a stern warning against unauthorized processions, unlawful gatherings, and any form of public disorder before, during, or after the coronation. The Command emphasized its readiness to deal decisively with anyone who attempts to disrupt the peace of the city during the celebration.
CSP Osifeso also encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines, which include the Oyo State toll-free line 615 and the control room numbers 08081768614, 09054133071, and 09061299291.
