The Abuja Nnamdi Azikwe international airport has suspended all flight activities by shuting down its runway after an Air Cargo Plane, Allied air with registration number 5N-JRT Crash-Landed today.
Five persons on board were safely evacuated with no reported injury and taken to the FAAN clinic for further check
The aircraft was said to have got stuck near the runway after skidding off during landing, forcing the authorities to shut down the airport pending when the plane would be towed.
The aircraft had reportedly experienced a tyre burst and failure of one of its landing gears after it landed.
According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN Mrs obiageli orah, the Airport Emergency response team arrive the scene along with accident investigators.
While the runway is being cleared and is expected to reopen for operations as soon as possible.
She requested that all speculation be put on hold until the preliminary report is released by the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).
For now, aircraft are only allowed to take-off to various destinations while those arriving the airport are asked not to land.
