The Nigeria Police Academy and the Nigerian Defence Academy have moved to deepen collaboration in academic development and professional training, following a high-level engagement between both institutions.
The visit by POLAC officials to the NDA formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional ties and improve training standards for security personnel in Nigeria.
The initiative is being driven by the Commandant of POLAC, Patrick A. Atayero, as part of broader reforms aimed at enhancing academic excellence and professional competence within the academy.
Discussions during the meeting focused on reviewing academic structures and aligning training frameworks to meet evolving security demands.
A key proposal considered was the development of a five-year programme integrating professional police training with academic studies, alongside plans to review curricula and improve collaboration between instructors and civilian lecturers.
The Provost of NDA, Bolanle Ajibua, said such partnerships are critical to raising educational standards and producing well-rounded officers equipped for modern security challenges.
Also speaking, Fadawa noted that the Police Academy is making steady progress and is open to adopting best practices from the NDA to strengthen its training systems.
Both institutions described the engagement as productive, emphasizing their shared commitment to delivering quality education, research, and professional development.
Officials said the collaboration is expected to enhance capacity building within Nigeria’s security architecture while fostering long-term cooperation between the two academies.
