The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and arraigned a 60-year-old man, Ajayi Femi, for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman after allegedly spiking her drink.
According to the Command, the case was first reported on August 22, 2025, by the survivor’s sister at the Meiran Police Station before being transferred the same day to the Gender Unit for discreet investigation.
Investigations, supported by medical tests, revealed that the suspect allegedly drugged the survivor’s drink, rendering her unconscious, before sexually assaulting her without consent. The police added that the suspect gave a confessional statement during questioning.
The suspect has since been charged to court and remanded in prison custody, pending the next adjourned date.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for survivors of sexual offences and maintaining the safety of all Lagos residents. He also urged members of the public to report all cases of sexual abuse or related crimes at Family Support Units across police divisions and area commands for prompt action.
