Officers from the Isokoko Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two individuals suspected of vandalizing public infrastructure at the Ile-Zik area of Lagos.
The suspects—Peter James, 26, and Lesipi Adamu, 24—were apprehended on April 22, 2025, while allegedly extracting iron rods from roadside concrete barriers. Their arrest followed credible intelligence provided by members of the public.
According to the Lagos police spokesman Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, upon their capture, law enforcement officers recovered tools believed to have been used in the act, including two sledgehammers, two cutting saws, and a pair of scissors. Efforts are currently underway to track down additional suspects who fled the scene.
Following preliminary investigations, the arrested individuals have been charged to court for conspiracy, stealing, and the willful destruction of public property. The recovered items have been registered as evidence in the ongoing legal proceedings.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, strongly condemned acts of vandalism, noting that they endanger public safety and undermine essential infrastructure. He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout Lagos State.
