The Lagos State Police Command has recorded notable breakthroughs in its ongoing operations against criminal activities across the state, with the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the foiling of an attempted armed robbery in two separate incidents. This was disclosed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, while briefing newsmen in Lagos.
In the first incident, operatives acting on credible intelligence on May 1, 2025, at about 9:40 p.m., intercepted three suspects en route to Oke-Koto in Agege, where they intended to sell a stolen vehicle. The black KIA Cerato had been reportedly removed from its original location in Alapere-Ketu earlier that day.
Acting swiftly, a police team was mobilized to the scene, leading to the arrest of Oluwafemi Oladapo (28), Idris Mustapha (28), and Sefianu Usman (29). The stolen vehicle was recovered in their possession. After careful verification, the rightful owner was contacted and the vehicle was returned to him. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
In a related development, on May 3, 2025, around 6:30 p.m., a patrol team from the Command responded to a distress call at Onikan, where a group of hoodlums was attempting to rob a passerby near the stadium area. The operatives arrived swiftly, disrupting the robbery and arresting two suspects: Noah Olaniyi (30) and Ojo Samuel (25). Several other suspects fled the scene.
A live cartridge was recovered during a search of the suspects, who are currently in custody while investigations continue. The police are working to identify and arrest the fleeing members of the gang.
CSP Hundeyin reiterated the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and urged Lagos residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely information to security agencies.
